Athletics office snags district writing award

For the second straight year, the Longwood athletics communications office received recognition in the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA)’s Fred Stabley Sr.Writing Contest.

The feature story “Longwood Alum Breaking Down Barriers on the Gridiron” was chosen as a District 3 winner in the category of Athletics office snags district writing award “General Feature.”

The story, written by Chris Cook, assistant vice president for athletics communications, details the professional football career of former two-sport LancerTia Richardson Watkins ’04, who was a basketball and
lacrosse player at Longwood from 2000-04 and has played professional football in the IndependentWomen’s Football League (IWFL) and Women’s Football Alliance (WFA) since 2013.
